RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. The event is open to all students whose teachers are members of the MTAC Whittier Branch.
2. Ensemble groups are allowed if the group is coached by an MTAC Whitter Branch teacher.
3. The event will be held in person at the CSU Long Beach Daniel Recital Hall.
4. MTAC Whittier Branch Dress Code Applies. Students who do not adhere to the MTAC Whittier Branch Dress Code will be disqualified.
5. Parent Consent Form must be completed in order for students under age 18 to participate.
6. Application fee is $35 for solo, $20/student for ensemble per entry.
7. Students are welcome to apply for multiple entries of different instruments or categories, with the payment of entry fee for each instrument or category. Please submit a separate application for each entry.
8. Each entrant will receive a Virtual Award, and winners of each category will receive additional awards.
9. Students are categorized by instrument, category and level. Students of any age may participate.
10. Results will be published on the MTAC Whittier Branch website as well as emailed to participating teachers by February 7, 2026.
The following must be completed by TEACHERS:

• Send one signed Parent Consent Form for each student under the age of 18 with registration check or email it to Tammy Tsai at moc.liamg|niloivnicnadeht#moc.liamg|niloivnicnadeht.
• The deadline to apply is December 24, 2025. No late application accepted.
• Mail one check for total fee of all students, payable to “MTAC Whittier Branch.” Send to Tammy Tsai at 12940 Essex Place, Cerritos, CA 90703, postmarked on or before December 24, 2025. No checks will be accepted from parents.
REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENT – PIANO SOLO
1. Each student may perform up to TWO (2) contrasting selections from different music periods, no more than 6 minutes in total length. Students whose repertoire exceeds the time limit will be stopped, but it will not affect the result of the performance.
2. All repertoire must be chosen from the Certificate of Merit® Syllabus. If two pieces are performed, one selection must be from the student’s registered level, and the other selection may be from the same or a higher level.
3. Memory is optional.
REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENT – VIOLIN/VIOLA/CELLO SOLO
1. Each student must perform ONE selection, no more than 5 minutes in total length. Students whose repertoire exceeds the time limit will be stopped, but it will not affect the result of the performance.
2. Repertoire must be chosen from the Certificate of Merit® Syllabus.
3. Piano accompaniment is required except for work written without accompaniment.
4. Memory is optional.
REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENT – WIND SOLO

REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENT – ENSEMBLE
1. Each group must perform ONE selection, no more than 5 minutes in total length. Students whose repertoire exceeds the time limit will be stopped, but it will not affect the result of the performance.
2. All repertoire must be written for the instrumentation presented. No transcription allowed.
3. All members of the ensemble must be students. No teacher or professional accompanist allowed.
4. Memory is NOT required.
