May 2025 NEWSLETTER

Jennifer Hewitt, Branch President

President's Message The school year is coming to an end and each of our music programs have completed. I hope each of your students have attained some of their goals and are looking forward to next year’s challenges.
We are continuing with our new newsletter format to be viewed at our website. This will provide more detailed information on each of our Branch events/activities. If you note any errors, please contact Robin at moc.loa|onaipsitrucr#moc.loa|onaipsitrucr.

Certificate of Merit The new CM syllabus has finally been released and is available to view at the MTAC Teacher Portal. No paper copies will be issued.

May Musicale This event was a great success. There were 9 teams of parents and kids performing duets, 4 sibling duets and 7 piano solo students. Individual performers were introduced by their own teachers at the recital. All parents had a positive attitude to promise to perform on stage and practice very hard with their own kids. Some parents even without a music background inspired their children to practice and perform. These parents had to learn one simple piece just so they could play together with their kids. From practicing, parents and kids gradually built up a trust, understanding, and cooperation to make their duet successful. Mei-Chi said the musicale was more a warm and lovely music party rather than a recital.
We hope this type of musicale can be repeated with even more parents participating next year.

Concerto The 2025 concerto performance with the La Mirada Symphony took place on Sunday, 3/30/25 at 3:00 pm. This was a very successful event played to a packed house. The student performers were sisters Jennifer Yu (9), playing Violin Concerto No. 3 in G Major 3rd Movement by Mozart and Dora Yu (14), playing Viola Concerto by William Walton.
