Student Musicales Participation Rules
• Musicales are open to all well-prepared students to play one or two pieces at their level of advancement. One movement of a Sonatina or a Sonata equals one piece.
• Each teacher may enter as many as 6 students per program but no more than 20 minutes per program. If a teacher submits more than 6 students, performers will be placed on different programs, time permitting.
• Compositions are all memorization optional for ensembles, accompanied music, or music on memory optional programs.
• Music performed at Musicales may be classical or popular, except on the Holiday Musicale where music is either holiday-oriented or at least uplifting.
• No participant may perform the same selection on more than two Musicales in the same fiscal year.
• Students will not be included on a Musicale if their application or fees arrives too late for inclusion on the program. The Chair will notify the teacher.
• Teachers are responsible for informing students (and their parents) about the Whittier Branch Dress Code. A student who violates the Dress Code will not be allowed to perform. Note: Teachers serving as Presenters are also asked to dress per the Dress Code.
• Performers must arrive 10 minutes before the start of the program to be seated in the front rows as assigned by the Program Presenter.
• Students and their families are asked to remain throughout the entire Musicale program and to respect the dignity of the occasion.
• Application is not complete until the fees are mailed to the chair, postmarked on or before Monday prior to the Musicale. Send ONE check for the total amount for all of your students, payable to “MTAC Whittier”
FEES
• $10 per performance, 1 or 2 pieces or movements allowed within 5-minute time limit
• No fee for Community Outreach Program Holiday Musicale
• A student performing a solo and performing in an ensemble on the same day pays a separate entry fee for each performance. For ensembles, the fee is divided equally among the members of a group. There are no refunds for illness or cancellations.
