RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. The competition is open to high school seniors and juniors whose teachers are members of the MTAC Whittier Branch.
2. Ensemble groups are allowed if all members of the group are high school juniors or seniors, and the group is coached by an MTAC Whitter Branch teacher.
3. Each candidate must perform two selections from different musical periods, no more than 10 minutes in total length. Memory is NOT required. Please make cuts necessary to adhere to the time limit.
4. The competition will be held through an online submission.
5. MTAC Whittier Branch Dress Code Applies. Students who do not adhere to the MTAC Whittier Branch Dress Code will be disqualified.
6. Parent Consent Form must be completed in order for the student to participate.
7. No late or incomplete submissions accepted.
8. Application fee is $25 for solo, $10/student for ensemble
9. Cash awards will be given to competition winners: $300 for 1st place, $225 for 2nd place, and $150 for 3rd place. Checks will be mailed to the winners. Student mailing address is required on the Application Form.
10. Results will be published on the MTAC Whittier Branch website as well as emailed to participating teachers by May 16, 2025.
Online Submission Instructions for Students:
• Candidates may submit one video for each composition. Each video must be continuous and unedited.
• Piano accompaniment is required for instrumentalists except pieces which were written without piano accompaniment.
• Upload the video to YouTube with the Visibility Setting of “unlisted.” Send the link to your teacher to enter on the application form.
• In the “Title” box, input the following information in this format: Fist name Last name.Instrument (for example: John Smith.Trombone).
• In the “Description” box, enter the composers and titles of the pieces in the order of performance.
• No student or parent may email or have any contact with the Chairman. All communication must be made through the teacher.
• Violation to any of these rules will DISQUALIFY the candidate.
• Note: All videos submitted become property of MTAC Whittier Branch. MTAC Whittier Branch reserves the right to use, distribute, or publish the videos on our branch website.
The following must be completed by TEACHERS:

• Mail one check for total fee of all students, payable to “MTAC Whittier Branch.” Send to Tammy Tsai at 12940 Essex Place, Cerritos, CA 90703, postmarked on or before April 30, 2025. No checks will be accepted from parents.
